Samsun is the founder and director of Beyond Handmade Pvt.Ltd, a small business in rural Murshidabad, West Bengal. She grew up in a subsistence farming family where resilience and entrepreneurial spirit often overcome adversity. She recognized that when women have the freedom to make their own choices, they thrive. Out of a small production unit, Samsun organizes and provides skills training for women that encourages a better understanding of their value as individuals. The team of eight loves working together to create beautiful products from sustainable materials using traditional and new craft techniques. The name ‘Beyond Handmade’ defines a commitment to creativity, design, and quality. Their vision is to see themselves and others empowered through business and ethical trade in a way that fulfills and benefits their families and the wider community.
