Introducing our first film: HIMALAYAN HAAT

We are thrilled to introduce the first video in our Present Tense film series. This video shares the story of Himalayan Haat, a business located in the mountains of northern India and owned by JoyCorps Fellowship alumni Divya and Stephen Diedrichs.

Divya and Steve's business increases income for farmers by turning the low-cost commodity of farm produce into high-value gourmet products, all made by hand in small batches. Himalayan Haat also employs, trains and enables local village women to become financially independent. They currently employ 23 village women full-time, though their dream is to employ four times that many. In addition to being a driving force of socio-economic change in the area, the business’s mission is to revive the practice of jungle farming to encourage the health of the land, which supplies spring water to 14 villages in the district.
