Choosing SLOW in a FAST world
What does it mean to produce SLOW fashion in a world of FAST fashion? We talked with Moses Saladi of Saladi Enterprises, a leather manufacturer in New Delhi, India, about his commitment to creating “slow fashion.” Watch the video to learn more about how “choosing slow” affects the business’s process, people, and products.
“That’s the essence of a slow product. It is brilliant and beautiful. What makes it brilliant is not just the way it looks and that it’s of good quality. What makes it brilliant is that that one product has given jobs to, has been touched by 50 other hands. That one wallet was able to feed people. That one product was able to send a kid to school. That is what makes it brilliant. And that is something a machine can’t do. That is something a person can do. That is something artisans can do. When we are choosing to be slow, we are choosing hands. We are choosing people over machines. That is what a slow product is. A slow product is a symbol of brilliance and beauty.”
